Vote for Your Favourite National Animal

Which national animal wins your heart? Pick as many of the 84 animals as you like and give each one a vote. Once enough votes are in, this list turns into a live ranking.

Cast your votes

Press Vote next to any animal you love. Tap anywhere else on a card to read its story.

How voting works

Every visitor can vote once per animal per day, for as many different animals as they like, up to 20 votes a day. A new voting day starts at midnight UTC.

Voting is anonymous. There is no account and no email address. We do not store your IP address: to stop repeat votes, the server keeps only a scrambled one-way code (a hash) that is valid for one day and cannot be turned back into your address, and it is deleted after two days.

Your browser also remembers which animals you voted for today, so the buttons can show it. That note stays on your device.

How we count

Each vote adds one to that animal’s total. The ranking sorts the animals by total votes, and each bar compares an animal with the current leader. Animals with the same number of votes share a place.

The ranking only appears once 100 votes have been cast in total. Until then we show how close we are, but not the count for each animal.

This is a reader poll for fun, not a scientific survey. Anyone can take part, so the results reflect the people who visit this site, not the whole world.
